NOVA A.I. is an online video editing platform available for everyone in need of editing videos – beginners as well as experienced content creators and editors.
Our mission is to automate video editing with the help of AI, and our platform offers essential video editing tools such as cutting, trimming, and merging videos, media upload (videos, images, audio, and music tracks), audio and speed settings, as well as more sophisticated features such as transitions, filters, and elements, and not least advanced AI-powered tools including text-to-speech voiceover generator, AI clip maker, smart video search function, automatic subtitle generator, and translator. It also includes a private video library with cloud-based storage, folders, and access to stock images, videos, and sound.
Tell us about yourself?
I’m Michael Moss, the co-founder of NOVA A.I. I have been on an entrepreneurial journey for the past 18 years. Building computer programs and looking for ways to build solutions has been my passion since I can remember. In the past I have been working in finance, also getting to utilise my computer skills for modelling and forecasting investment strategies for the hedge fund I worked for back then. However, my dream has always been to build a tech company, and now I’m finally here and enjoying every bit of it.
I found the specific niche of video editing a bit by coincidence after realising that there was a need for simple video editing and a wish to automate video editing with the help of AI. Further, 82% (Cisco report) of all internet traffic was held up by video meaning that there was and still is a very big demand for technical tools related to video creation. With this in mind, I simply took it from there, and together with my first team members, we kept looking for the right solution until we found it.
If you could go back in time a year or two, what piece of advice would you give yourself?
First of all, I would tell myself not to rush. It takes time to establish and build up a vital company. Success usually doesn’t come overnight, and there are going to be ups and downs. It is all about how you tackle obstacles along the way. About learning, and using what you learn to make your product and company’s vision stronger. Question and challenge your opportunities to find the best answers.
We learned that listening to our users is the most important step in creating a useful and valued product. For most entrepreneurs, it’s not the first idea or the first setup that will be the solution – it is the adjustments done along the way that will form the viable shape of a business.
Also, a piece of advice I’ve been using from the beginning: Be transparent, as you can only establish a substantial user base or clientele if you earn trust.
What problem does your business solve?
We solve a problem of video editing. We offer an online video editing platform with basic and essential editing tools as well as advanced AI-powered tools, that help streamline some of the most time-consuming editing tasks, such as subtitling videos, translating subtitles, adding voiceovers, making video clips, and searching specific scenes within video footage. With a simple interface, NOVA A.I. can be used by everyone in need of editing videos including content creators and professional video editors.
What is the inspiration behind your business?
We get inspired by all the passionate creators out there making unique and fascinating content.
Our software caters to both individual users and enterprises, and our mission is to automate video editing with the help of AI.
What is your magic sauce?
Our magic sauce is a mix of ingredients. First of all, we have a growing selection of AI-powered tools that can mean a big difference in turns of saving time and money on otherwise time-consuming video editing tasks.
Secondly, we are a browser-based platform, so our software doesn’t require a single download or installation.
We also have a simple interface meaning our software doesn’t require previous experience with video editing to use. We offer a detailed selection of tutorial videos for each tool on our platform.
Our prices are low – users can even keep using our platform for free if they are just doing simple editing tasks from time to time.
What is the plan for the next 5 years? What do you want to achieve?
At the moment we have a user base of +500K and we plan to continue the growth, continuously make improvements, and expand with new tools regularly.
What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced so far?
We started with a different idea but quickly concluded that our initial users wanted a slightly different version of it. We had a lot of conversations with users and after probably 500-700 interviews we felt we knew our next step and the change in plan. It was a very iterative process. Repeating and alternating until the solution seemed clear.
How do people get involved/buy into your vision?
We’ve just finished a crowdfunding campaign, and have gotten a lot of new investors on board.
