Tatask is an infinitely nestable task management webapp designed to break complex projects down into simple tasks so users can get more done in less time.
TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF?
I’ve been working as a software engineer full time for the last 4 years, initially working for Thirdfort, then a spell as a freelancer, and now as an indie hacker/solo entrepreneur. I Always wanted a task management app that works the way Tatask does but was never able to find a good one so I decided to build my own one weekend, launched it to my small audience on Twitter a few days later and it started making money within a week so I decided to focus more time on it.
IF YOU COULD GO BACK IN TIME A YEAR OR TWO, WHAT PIECE OF ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE YOURSELF?
Don’t be afraid to cut your losses. Another project of mine was taking up too much time without producing good results and with hindsight I should have wound it down sooner.
WHAT PROBLEM DOES YOUR BUSINESS SOLVE?
Tatask helps users overcome project complexity and therefore greatly improve productivity
WHAT IS THE INSPIRATION BEHIND YOUR BUSINESS?
I used to write nested task lists while a student at Edinburgh and always found myself way more organised than most of my peers so I decided I needed a dedicated solution. It really helped me to solve the problem of how to prioritise tasks in my life and how to manage my time most effectively.
WHAT IS YOUR MAGIC SAUCE?
Tatask is different from other task management platforms as it revolves completely around a nested task structure. The app is designed to be extremely user friendly and deceptively powerful because of this structure. Other task management systems exist that allow hierarchy but it is usually an afterthought in their products.
WHAT IS THE PLAN FOR THE NEXT 5 YEARS? WHAT DO YOU WANT TO ACHIEVE?
The plan is to grow Tatask into a thriving subscription based business. In the near future I will be launching team collaboration plans to allow businesses to use tatask (The nested tree structure nicely aligns with some business structures). I will also be experimenting with adding AI functionality to the app and many other avenues to improve user productivity. The aim is to make it easy for any knowledge worker to become as productive and focused as I am.
WHAT IS THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE YOU’VE FACED SO FAR?
So far there have not been any big challenges as I only launched in November 2022.
