Adrien has a PhD from Harvard and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). in Biomedical Engineering and Biophysics with a specific focus on cardiovascular devices, fibre optic sensing, and optical coherence tomography. Ioannis holds an MB:BS (MD) from the Medical School of University of Patras, Greece, where he also completed his internship. Shortly after he switched focus to software engineering. From 1999 to 2001 he acted as a technical director and software developer in a successful start-up Internet Service Provider (General Satellite Applications for the Internet, Patras). Between 2001 and 2002 he worked as senior software developer in a photo news agency (Reporter ltd, Athens) where he designed and implemented software and infrastructure for Internet based digital image collection, storage and distribution. In 2003 he worked as a team leader/software engineer in Hellenic Technology of Robotics (Athens) where he has developed the kernel, collision detection, virtual force field generator and communications modules for the Environment Dynamics Simulator project outsourced by European Space Agency (ESTEC dept) and used for ground testing and programming of two of the robotic arms deployed in the International Space Station. In 2005 he assumed the role of the technical manager in the same company for the commercial exploitation of space telemetry and control technology for ground systems (ANEMO project). Since 2006 he has been working with Prof John Fox (Advanced Computation Laboratory in Cancer Research UK initially, University of Oxford engineering department subsequently) as a senior medical software developer mainly developing the Tallis/PROforma decision support technology and applications for cardiovascular and oncology diseases.
